PASTURED BEEF

The beef at Brunty Farms truly round out our rotational grazing operation. They aid in keeping our pastures groomed and eliminate the use of a tractor for mowing. The wonderful thing about having sheep and cows together is that they both prefer certain grasses that the other doesn't. One thing a cow prefers, a lamb won't, and vise versa. The chickens follow both of them and enjoy consuming the various weed seeds that are left behind. A perfect combination!

Our guys and gals are rotated weekly during the season to a new section of pasture to chow down on the many grasses that they find. They always have access to fresh pasture and we feed them quality hay during the winter months. Since beef take anywhere from 18-24 months until processing time, there will always be a time when they are fed hay, especially during Ohio winters. Additionally we supplement a small portion of their diet, roughly 5-10%, in ground non-GMO corn. This gives the great benefits of being grass fed along with the desirable traits, like flavor, that corn has to offer. They are never confined to a barn or finished on on soley grass or grain. It makes for one heck of an awesome end product!
